Enjoy an affordable and effective alternative to health insurance in Texas

It’s common for people to feel less than pleased with their health insurance plans. A report from the Kaiser Family Foundation revealed that about 1 in 3 individuals with a health plan are concerned about their ability to afford their monthly medical premium. But locating affordable health insurance coverage is not consumers’ only concern. A survey conducted by OnePoll found that about 56% of Americans feel totally lost when it comes to understanding their insurance plans.

CrowdHealth is a unique alternative to health insurance plans in Texas. Unlike plans offered by Texas insurance providers, our crowdfunding plans help Members avoid the complexities of the Texas health insurance system. We don’t provide insurance coverage. Instead, our health plans cover medical expenses via crowdfunding. If you’ve heard of crowdfunding, you might think of a one-time fundraising campaign that raises money for one health event. CrowdHealth is different. We ask our Members to make monthly plan contributions to a Health Funding Account that is used to cover Community medical expenses.

The benefits of securing a Texas CrowdHealth plan as a health insurance alternative are tremendous. Our plans make paying for medical coverage and taking part in the health care system a breeze. All you have to do is share your medical bills with us. We’ll ensure that your health expenses are covered. Our health plans are affordable and our Community is extremely supportive.

Purchasing health insurance should leave consumers feeling empowered and financially prepared to manage their medical care needs. At CrowdHealth, we aim to empower our Texas Community of Members to take control of their care and experience the savings they deserve.

Keep reading to find out why signing up for one of our medical care plans in Texas can benefit both your health and your budget.

Crowdfunding vs. health insurance and fundraising in Texas

Health insurance plans in Texas and across the nation can be confusing because of the number of restrictions and requirements they impose. Texas residents who want to carefully compare health insurance plans often feel pressured to make a quick choice due to the insurance sector’s requirement to enroll in a health plan during open enrollment. After choosing an insurance plan, customers have to meet their health insurance deductible before they can use their healthcare coverage. Fortunately, you don’t have to worry about these limitations with CrowdHealth.

While fundraising efforts are generally not as complicated as health insurance plans, attempting to raise money to cover the cost of health expenses can be extremely difficult. This is especially true when the fundraising attempt is made through a traditional crowdfunding site as opposed to one that provides health coverage. When you acquire a CrowdHealth plan, you don’t have to worry that others won’t see your request for funding or help cover your health expenses. Our medical care plans give all Members the opportunity to receive funding for medical bills in a timely fashion. You also don’t have to pay for the care you receive after the fact. The intention of our crowdfunding coverage is to pay your health costs upfront as often as possible.

Is a crowdfunding health plan more affordable than Texas health insurance?

At CrowdHealth, one of our primary goals as an alternative to health insurance plans in Texas is to reduce the cost of care for each Member. We’re proud to say that we’re very successful in making health care expenses easier to afford. This is important since insurance plans in Texas are so pricey. In 2022, the average health insurance premium for an adult’s benchmark health plan was $424 in Texas. Monthly health plan costs alone can leave insurance customers paying upwards of $5,000 for their annual coverage. This doesn’t include the plan deductible or any other out-of-pocket health expenses.

When you secure a CrowdHealth plan, you’re never in the dark about coverage costs. Our TX medical care plans are straightforward and affordable. The plan cost for individuals aged 6-54 is $175 per month. If you’d like coverage for an entire family of 4 to 8 people, the plan contribution is just $695 per month.

These low-cost medical care plans give you plenty of bang for your buck by ensuring you keep the majority of your monthly health plan contribution. CrowdHealth only takes $30 each month as an administrative fee. The remainder of the monthly plan contribution you pay is stored in your Health Funding Account, which can be used to finance the medical bills of other Members. Health care plans in Texas don’t get any easier.

Care advocacy in Texas makes crowdfunding an attractive medical insurance substitute

Our commitment to offering cost-friendly health coverage plans extends to your overall cost of care. While health insurance companies in Texas cover their portion of billed medical expenses and leave the rest to you, our plans focus on reducing your overall cost of care.

Let’s say that you have a health appointment with your doctor. Before visiting their office, let us know about your upcoming health visit. Your membership plan includes a personal care advocate who will contact your doctor’s office to negotiate the cost of care before you arrive. You‘ll pay up to $500, which is the amount all Members pay as a part of their health plan agreement. But since the advocate’s goal is to reduce the cost of each health event, you could pay much less. In fact, CrowdHealth has tremendous success with reducing the cost of care by between 30% and 60%.

If you encounter a health event that requires a payment of more than $500, simply submit a funding request to us and we will reach out to the Community to fund your medical bill. The funds that the Community agrees to cover are transferred directly into your Health Funding Account. This enables you to pay for your health event in cash.

What’s great about securing our crowdfunding plan is you don’t have to worry about coverage limitations or claims denials. The Community provides coverage for small and large health expenses. In fact, there is no limit to the amount your crowdfunding health plan will cover. If after we negotiate your cost of care the bill is still large, we’ll negotiate a payment plan that the Community will cover over several months or even several years!

What does a Texas crowdfunding plan cover?

Our crowdfunding health plans help Members pay most medical expenses. Whether you need financial assistance with a simple procedure or a major surgery, the Community will provide coverage. You don’t even have to know about your health event in advance. A crowdfunding health plan helps cover medical costs for a planned procedure or an emergency treatment. All you have to do is take a photo of your health care bill then send it to us via the mobile app to have the Community pay your expenses.

It’s important to note that a small number of procedures and treatments aren’t eligible for funding by our health plans. Currently, the Community does not provide coverage for fertility treatments, alternative therapies, or cosmetic procedures. Our health plans also currently don’t cover vision or dental care; however, we hope to offer coverage for these health events in the future.

As for drug prescription costs, you’ll be happy to know that the Community will provide coverage for 120 days following a specific health event that occurs during active membership. Any drug prescription costs accumulated after 120 days are not included in the membership plan. While Members are responsible for these costs, they can benefit from access to our pharmacy discount partner, which reduces prescribed drug costs by 50% to 60%.

Who is eligible for Texas crowdfunding medical coverage?

At CrowdHealth, our goal is always to provide health coverage to as many people in Texas as possible. Currently, we offer medical plans for individuals aged 0-64; however, we don’t yet extend coverage to tobacco users or people who weigh more than 270/300 pounds (female/male).

Individuals with pre-existing health conditions are invited to join, but keep in mind that coverage for care associated with these conditions will be limited. For the first year of a Texas Membership plan, a diagnosed or documented health condition won’t be covered. In the second and third years, medical expenses associated with the health condition will receive coverage of up to $25,000 and up to $50,000, respectively. In the fourth and following years of coverage, the plan will pay up to $100,000. Similar limitations apply for associated drug prescriptions, procedures, and treatments.

Members who become pregnant after acquiring a Texas CrowdHealth plan will have their entire pregnancy covered in three phases: 1) prenatal care, 2) labor and delivery, and 3) postpartum care. Pregnant Members must pay $500 for each phase for a total $1,500 commitment. The rest will be covered by the Community. While a pregnant Member is covered under their health plan, their newborn baby will require their own health plan following their birth.

But there’s no doubt that a Texas crowdfunding plan from CrowdHealth can serve as a phenomenal health insurance alternative. We take pride in offering health plans that can significantly improve your experience with receiving and paying for quality medical care.

With Texas crowdfunding coverage, you don’t have to worry about deductibles, referrals, or coinsurance/copayments that an insurance company in Texas would impose. Our plans don’t place limitations on Members because we’re not a health insurance company. You’re free to see the doctor of your choice without concerns about when to enroll in an insurance plan or whether you’ll be restricted by an insurance network. Your plan will always be straightforward. You pay up to $500 for a health event, and we’ll cover the rest.
