Purpose
To create data-driven tools to improve our operations, help our members shop for the best value care, and help members better understand their medical bills

Scope
We are building the worlds most helpful healthcare cash price database to allow our members to easily find fair and accurate cash pricing for all manner of healthcare services. This database will be easily accessible to our internal operations team to quickly understand local market dynamics, and to our members to help shop and compare estimates from providers
Responsibilities
- Maintaining our Cash Price database and ensuring data is refreshed consistently
- Building data collection systems to quickly integrate data from all manner of sources, including partnership data shares, observed cash price experience, web sources, and individual provider outreach
- Proactively seeking out and working with partners to collect, integrate, and validate data
- Manage the demographic data attached to cash prices – ensuring that names and locations are accurate and reliable
- Maintain and advance our system for translating Cash Prices and Quality data into a user-friendly doctor rating system
- Ensuring that our data remains accessible and useful to our operations team and members
Outcome
We find new data sources, proactively address gaps, and use the data we have creatively to expand member-relevant cash price coverage. We deliver concrete results quickly and iterate over time to improve our work. We listen to the end users of our products, take their complaints seriously, and find creative ways to fix those problems. We are not constrained by the ways things currently work and constantly push the boundaries by using the latest data and tools to make things better and to make better things.
Qualifications
At least 5 years in similar data-centric roles with a focus on solving practical problems with data, and at least 3 years in a role directly managing people
Skills and Background
- Experience working in healthcare claims data (or some equivalent), with a clear understanding of how the medical billing system operates
- Experience managing data from dozens or hundreds of sources
- Experience managing the practical tradeoffs of data quality, throughput, and timeliness
- Experience owning delivery of critical functions within a company
- Experience as a full-stack analyst – you can do everything from loading your data, to designing the table infrastructure, to running the analysis, and presenting the results.
- A will to find the answer, even if the path isn’t immediately clear
- Strict attention to detail – we shouldn’t have to catch your mistakes
- Curiosity about numbers, and a drive to find out the real-life answers that drive them
- Strong background in data tools, such as SQL, Excel, and Python.
- Comfort with modern AI tools and how to use them to accelerate good work

Compensation & Benefits
- Full Time - annual salary of $130,000 + equity
