About CrowdHealth
The health insurance system is broken. Badly. CrowdHealth is building something better. We help people pay for healthcare through a community-powered model that is more affordable, transparent, and human than traditional insurance.
Word is spreading fast. We’re 35,000 members strong and growing quickly.
About the Role
CrowdHealth is looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial strategy, financial operations, payments, banking relationships, and compliance program as we continue to scale.
This is not a traditional finance-only role. CrowdHealth operates at the intersection of healthcare, technology, payments, and banking. We need a financial leader with meaningful prior compliance experience in banking, fintech, payments, or financial services.
The right person will combine strong financial leadership with practical compliance judgment—helping us move quickly, manage risk intelligently, and maintain strong relationships with our banking partners.
What You'll Own
Finance & Strategy
- Own financial strategy, planning, forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and performance.
- Lead accounting, treasury, cash management, tax, audit, and financial controls.
- Partner with the CEO, COO, and leadership team on strategic decisions, investments, pricing, and resource allocation.
- Monitor financial KPIs, margins, unit economics, cash flow, and liquidity.
- Build scalable financial systems and processes that support continued growth.
Payments & Banking
- Own CrowdHealth's payment and money-movement strategy, including ACH processing, settlement, reconciliation, returns, reserves, prefunding, and liquidity.
- Serve as a senior relationship owner for banking partners, payment processors, and other financial-services providers.
- Partner with Product, Technology, and Operations to build reliable, compliant, and scalable payment experiences.
- Maintain strong financial controls around payment authorization, reconciliation, exceptions, and money movement.
Compliance
- Own and continuously improve CrowdHealth's Compliance Management System, including policies, risk assessments, monitoring, testing, training, reporting, and remediation.
- Serve as a primary compliance contact for banking and financial-services partners.
- Lead bank compliance reviews, audits, examinations, due diligence, and ongoing oversight.
- Maintain an independent, risk-based approach to evaluating products, partnerships, payment programs, and business practices.
- Oversee compliance related to ACH/EFT, identity verification, fraud prevention, transaction monitoring, privacy, financial data, and consumer protection.
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure necessary changes are incorporated into the business.
- Maintain direct access to the CEO and Board for material compliance matters and escalate significant risks when necessary.
- Partner with Legal and outside counsel on specialized regulatory matters.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive finance, banking, fintech, payments, or related experience.
- Significant senior financial leadership experience.
- Meaningful prior compliance experience within banking, fintech, payments, or financial services.
- Experience managing or having significant responsibility for a formal Compliance Management System or regulated financial-services compliance program.
- Experience working directly with banks, sponsor banks, payment processors, or Banking-as-a-Service providers.
- Experience supporting bank compliance reviews, audits, examinations, or due diligence.
- Strong understanding of ACH, payment operations, treasury, liquidity, reconciliation, settlement, and financial controls.
- Strong financial planning, forecasting, accounting, and reporting expertise.
- Sound judgment and the ability to balance regulatory obligations with practical business needs.
- Ability to translate complex financial and regulatory requirements into practical business decisions.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience in SaaS, fintech, or payments.
- Experience managing a sponsor-bank or embedded-finance relationship.
- Familiarity with NACHA requirements and applicable areas such as BSA/AML, OFAC, GLBA, Regulation E/EFTA, Regulation CC, UDAAP, and identity-theft/red-flags requirements.
- Experience developing compliance risk assessments, monitoring programs, policies, and executive or Board reporting.
- CPA, MBA, CRCM, CAMS, or another relevant finance or compliance credential.
What Success Looks Like
The CFO makes CrowdHealth financially stronger, easier to operate, and easier to scale.
Leadership has clear visibility into financial performance. Payments work reliably. Financial controls are strong. Banking relationships are healthy. Our compliance program is practical and effective, identifies risks early, and gives our banking partners confidence in how CrowdHealth operates.
We want someone who understands what the business is trying to accomplish and helps us figure out how to get there responsibly—knowing when risk can be managed, when additional controls are needed, and when something simply shouldn't move forward.
Compensation & Benefits
