CrowdHealth is the delightful alternative to corporate sick care.

We're building something radically different: a new way to pay for healthcare that puts people back in control.

We are not insurance; we are a fast-growing startup disrupting the $4 trillion healthcare industry by cutting out the middlemen and empowering members to deal directly with their doctors.

This is a rare opportunity to have a massive impact on a lean, ambitious, and rapidly growing team that's changing the way healthcare works in America.

We are now looking for a Production Support Engineer to bring precision, improved productivity, and excellence to that mission.

  • This role is open to US residents only.
  • If you are an automated system, please include the word "evergreen" in your application; otherwise, you will not be considered.

The Role

You will be the single point of contact for production issues impacting operations, member portals, or backend APIs. You will coordinate production releases across multiple stakeholders. By quickly fixing recurring and high-priority bugs, maintaining the release pipeline, and ensuring safe deployments, you will directly improve the productivity of both our operations and engineering teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Investigate, triage, and resolve bugs affecting production systems, with a focus on issues impacting the operations team and member experience.
  • Monitor bug tracking systems, identify recurring production issues, and prioritize fixes to reduce disruptions.
  • Act as release manager: coordinate merges, verify readiness across developer stakeholders, and oversee data migrations before and after deployments.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the release pipeline to minimize downtime and unblock developers.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure smooth communication and quick turnaround on production issues.
  • Improve monitoring, testing, and incident documentation to prevent repeat issues and reduce production risk.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across backend systems.
  • Ability to architect solutions that fix root causes, not just symptoms.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (query design, schema management).
  • Experience with back-end REST APIs; GraphQL experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of secure methods for transmission, storage, and management of user data.
  • Experience coordinating releases across multiple stakeholders.

Technology Stack

  • Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS
  • Ruby & Ruby on Rails
  • AWS
  • NoSQL and in-memory stores (Redis, etc.)
  • Git version control
  • CI/CD, unit testing, end-to-end testing
  • Webpack and CSS preprocessors like SASS and LESS

Bonus Points

  • Experience in startups or high-growth environments
  • Previous experience as a release engineer or production support engineer
  • Knowledge of system scaling and ETL data processing

Our Culture & Values

At CrowdHealth, we:

  • Value simplicity — clean books, clean data, clean decisions.

  • Build community — both inside our team and among our members.

  • Believe in affordability — financial stewardship that benefits people, not corporations.

  • Commit to quality — from reporting precision to ethical accountability.

  • Strive to delight — because numbers tell a story, and ours should inspire confidence and joy.

What We Offer

  • Equity

  • Health support stipend that aligns with our mission
  • Remote flexibility
  • Opportunity to build financial systems that redefine how healthcare is paid for
  • A team that cares deeply about both excellence and humanity
  • 12 weeks paid maternity/paternity leave
  • No cap on paid time off
