Senior Product Owner
About CrowdHealth
CrowdHealth is rebuilding the health insurance experience from the ground up. We help people pay for healthcare through a community-powered model that is more affordable, transparent, and human than traditional insurance.
We're growing quickly and are looking for a Senior Product Owner who excels at transforming business objectives into clear, actionable product requirements. This role is critical to ensuring our teams can move quickly, confidently, and efficiently from idea to implementation.
The Role
As our Senior Product Owner, you'll be responsible for translating business needs into detailed, executable product plans. You'll work directly with company leadership, operational stakeholders, design, and engineering to ensure initiatives are thoroughly defined, prioritized, and delivered successfully.
This is a highly collaborative and execution-focused role. You will partner with executives and stakeholders to bring the defined product vision and strategy to life.
The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, asks thoughtful questions, identifies edge cases, and creates the clarity necessary for teams to execute effectively.
What You'll Do
Product Discovery & Requirements
- Lead requirements gathering and discovery efforts for complex product initiatives
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to understand operational challenges, member needs, and business objectives
- Translate business goals into detailed product requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria
- Identify edge cases, dependencies, risks, and operational impacts before development begins
- Ensure requirements are complete, accurate, and implementation-ready
Product Execution
- Prioritize work in partnership with business stakeholders and engineering leadership
- Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning, and requirement review sessions
- Support engineering teams throughout development by answering questions and refining requirements as needed
- Validate completed work against requirements and acceptance criteria
- Coordinate successful feature launches and post-launch follow-up
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Drive alignment among stakeholders when requirements, priorities, or expectations conflict
- Partner closely with Design to ensure workflows and user experiences are thoroughly defined before development begins
- Collaborate with Engineering to evaluate implementation options, tradeoffs, and dependencies
- Serve as the primary product owner for key business initiatives from concept through launch
- Build trust across teams by providing clarity, consistency, and follow-through
Process Improvement
- Establish and improve product requirement and delivery processes
- Improve documentation standards and product development workflows
- Help create a more predictable and efficient product delivery organization
- Continuously identify opportunities to reduce ambiguity and improve execution quality
What Success Looks Like:
- Engineering teams consistently receive clear, actionable requirements before development begins
- Design and Engineering spend less time seeking clarification and more time building
- Large cross-functional initiatives move from concept to delivery with minimal ambiguity
- Stakeholders trust the product process and seek your involvement early in initiative planning
- Product development becomes increasingly predictable, efficient, and scalable
- Teams consistently deliver against clearly defined priorities and requirements
- Product launches occur with fewer surprises, delays, and rework
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of Product Ownership, Business Analysis, or related experience
- Proven experience independently leading software initiatives from requirements gathering through launch
- Exceptional ability to write detailed, clear, and actionable product requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to think through complex workflows, edge cases, and operational impacts
- Experience working closely with software engineers and product designers
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and create clarity
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience working within Agile product development environments
You Might Be a Great Fit If...
- You enjoy getting into the details more than presenting strategy decks
- You naturally identify edge cases and ask questions others miss
- You can take a vague idea and transform it into a clear implementation plan
- Engineers frequently tell you your requirements are unusually thorough
- You enjoy collaborating with technical teams to solve complex problems
- You prefer shipping products over debating product philosophy
- You thrive when creating structure and clarity in fast-moving environments
Bonus Points:
- Experience in healthcare, health insurance, fintech, or other regulated industries
- Experience building consumer-facing digital products
- Experience working in startup or high-growth environments
- Familiarity with Jira, Linear, Figma, and modern product development tools
- Experience supporting operationally complex products and workflows
This Role Is Not:
- A Head of Product, Director of Product, or VP Product role
- Responsible for company product vision or long-term product strategy
- A people management position
- Focused primarily on market research, pricing, or go-to-market strategy
Instead, this role is focused on creating clarity, defining requirements, driving alignment, and helping teams successfully deliver meaningful product improvements.
Why CrowdHealth:
- Help transform healthcare for thousands of members
- Work on meaningful problems with a mission-driven team
- High ownership and visibility across the organization
- Opportunity to shape how product delivery operates and scales
- Remote-friendly culture
- Full Time - Annual Salary of $130,000 + equity
- Health Support Stipend that aligns with our mission
- Fully Remote, normal business hours
- 12 weeks paid maternity/paternity leave
- Unlimited PTO
- 401(k)
